Previously, you could read about new Fuel EX and Remedy from Trek. At that time it was not said anything about what would happen with enduro bike Slash, but now is thus the cat out of the bag: Slash gets 29-inch wheels. As Remedy now was revised up to more migration, and slacker angles and in addition in a Race Shop Limited variant, aimed specifically at enduro rides, offset the manufacturer’s existing Slash. Therefore, it really Slash who now receive the biggest change for 2017 – with 29-inch wheels and 150 / 160mm hiking. The reason for this should be accompanied Trek be that several of the team-riders their modified the previous Remedy 29 with further dampen forks with great success.
Trek Slash comes when two models, 9.8 and 9.9 Race Shop Limited. In addition there will be a frameset available. The frame has 150 millimeters hiking, and is equipped with forks with 160 millimeters hiking. Both frame and forks using the Boost standard, and that the Fuel EX and Remedy, the frame is designed to get a stiffer construction. This means that also Slash gets a “Knock Block” device, which prevents the fork crown by turning in the tube.
A significant difference from other Trek full dampers is that Slash did not use Full Floater hanger. Trek grounds that Full Floater was designed at a time when many air rear suspension had limited function, and needed the help of damper suspension to work optimally. Technology has, however, changed a lot, and bakdemperne has improved. By using a fixed lower bracket for mono shock, argues Trek to create a stiffer frame and chain stays. The frame has yet adjustable geometry and steering angle can be changed by about half a degree.
For the record: The new Slash is 29-specific, it will also say that it can not accommodate 27,5+ deck. Maximum tire width is stated to be 2.6 inches. Trek state that Slash 29 first will be available from October, and prices in dollars are stated to be $ 5,499 for Slash 29 9.8, and $ 8,999 for Slash 29 9.9 RSL.
