Now you can update to Windows 10 Anniversary Update – Tek.no

Microsoft has announced the rollout of Windows 10 Anniversary Update has started. This is the first major update of Windows 10.

Power miser Edge with support for extensions

Microsoft has recently come out pretty hard and claimed that the latest versions of their Edge browser will use less system resources and thus less power than competitors’ browsers.

According to the company anniversary edition of Edge make the browser even more energy-efficient, so you get even longer battery life on laptops. If this is true, we do not know until we eventually get tested allegations thoroughly yourself.

Windows Ink

One of the most exciting new features in the anniversary edition, Windows Ink. This is a feature that requires you to have a PC or tablet with a touch screen that can be used with a pen – at least if you have a particular advantage of it (you can retrieve Ink feature on a PC without pen also by pressing Windows key and W).

Here you get up both Microsoft applications (such as Office applications) and third-party applications that support the use of pen. In addition, a function for making handwritten notes, called Sticky Notes – similar to Post-it notes. Another feature – Sketch Pad – provides in practice a white sheet on the screen that you can draw on. It even comes with a virtual ruler you can use to create straight lines or measure distances.

With the Screen Sketch you can take a screenshot of the entire Windows desktop, and then draw on this. The result must be readily shared with others.



User interface improvements – and Dark Mode

One of the first things you’ll notice is that the Start menu has been little changed since the previous version. All applications now appear in a long list that you can scroll down to, while File, Preferences, on / off button and a button for Online account appear as small icons to the left. Many Mac users are embracing the opportunity to leave the menu lines and elements of the operating system appear in a dark gray color. The anniversary edition has finally Windows also received such “Dark Mode”. For security reasons it is of course a limit to what you can do, but you can pledge Cortana questions, get it to play music or ask assistants to remind you of something.

Other news in Cortana is that it can store and later retrieve information you want it to remember for you – such as where you parked your car, the name of a good wine, or other things. Enter Cortana on your Android device, will Cortana could give you notifications from your Android phone to your PC, let you reply with a text message from your PC if you would not have time to take the phone, and so on. According to Microsoft should the embedded security solution Windows Defender have been improved. It has also come more advanced features designed for businesses.

Windows Hello is the handsome feature that uses facial recognition to automatically log on to Windows – without having to enter a password. In the anniversary edition can Hello function now also be used in both Windows apps and websites – assuming you use Microsoft’s own Edge browser.

Other improvements

Windows can now automatically change the time zone when you are traveling. This is a handy feature that Mac users have enjoyed long, and that makes you have to manually set the clock or time zone when you are traveling. To turn on this feature, go to Settings menu.

Otherwise, the startup time have been reduced by up to 20 percent, according to Microsoft.
