2000 broadband customers hit by massive fiber breakage – digi.no

A fiber breakage north of Hobart has led to about 2,000 broadband customers Eidsiva Broadband has been offline since Monday morning. This writes the local newspaper raumnes.

All customers in Hobart, Årnes, Sørskogbygda and region will be affected, the company said even in a free operating.



500 meters

The breach allegedly took place in a fiber where Eidsiva lease capacity of a subcontractor. It will involve a significant injury, allowing as much as 500 meters of the cable must be replaced. The work is made more difficult by the cable crosses both a river and a road and a railway track.

This means that both the National Rail Administration, the local power supplier and several others involved in the work.

For raumnes says Bjorn Rognlien, director of the operations department to Eidsiva Broadband, that currently do not no backup for the affected fiber cable, although the company has concrete plans on completing this.

Tuesday morning is estimated rettetid is 6 o’clock Wednesday morning, but Rognes says to raumnes that he can not promise anything timing of when a new fiber-optic cable or an optional spare solution is in place.

Eidsiva Broadband promises to keep customers updated via the company’s Facebook page.
