Huge discoveries from the bronze age – StjordalensBlad

Suddenly, there was sound in both the detectors. The largest bronsealderfunnet of the county was a fact.

It was the brothers Korstad, Jørgen and Joakim, who on Wednesday was out with his detector. Where they were has fylkeskonseervatoren forbidden against in the day to tell anything about.

the Discovery is very remarkable, nine bronsealderøkser and a spearhead, a discovery Jørgen Korstad tells the experts say must originate from a high-ranking society in Stjørdal in the bronze age.

– There is a great deal of rock art in Stjørdal from the bronze age. Now it’s a discovery that tells us more about a society at this time, ” says Korstad.

the Case continues under the image.

short-range

We’ll not know where the site is. We are trying to approach a location, down by the fjord or in the highs around Stjørdal town centre, but Korstad just laughs when we ask.

– Within how big the area were the discoveries made?

– we are Talking about a circle, we found the tools within a diameter of under a hundred metres, ” says Jørgen.

The two got together and pretty close, and detectors made the difference at the same time. They had the landowner’s permission to search, and also gained acceptance to dig.

We did findings quite grundt, the most shallow, perhaps only 15 centimeters under the earth.

– What were you thinking?

We did not understand how big this was, but now that it has been the experts here, fylkeskonservator and people from the Archaeology, we understand more. It should not be made a similar discovery in the Uk since sometime in the 1800s. When it’s among other things, about the size of the discovery, ” says Korstad.

3.000 years old

It is suggested already that the tools found are 3.000 years old or more.

– the Bronze age was from 1700 to 500 years before Christ, so here it is very old stuff, ” says Jørgen Korstad.
