Today, a new keyboard with Sami characters available for both Android and Iphone users.
The keyboard supports all Sami languages in use in Norway today, Northern Sami, Sami and Lule.
In addition, the keyboard can be used by Skolte Sami, Pite Sami and Inari Sami users. The keyboard is launched as a free app.
– The smartphone is becoming increasingly important for us both privately and at work. By Sami keyboard makes it easier to communicate in Sami. This is good for the individual and for the development of the Sami languages, says Sami parliament president Aili Keskitalo.

There are language technology center Divvun at the University of Tromsø is behind the keyboard.
Centre for Sámi language technology has contributed in development.
