Snapchat with shock update, now owns ALT sharing – TV 2

Mobi Lappen snapchat became a hit immediately after it came on the market in autumn 2011.

Millions of users fell for the marketing that photographs and videos that were shared never were stored and were deleted from servers within 24 hours.

In June this year had snapchat over 1.1 million registered Norwegian users, it is estimated that there are 100 million users worldwide.

A few days ago came a new update which contained a number of new features and the usual long list of conditions that most people do not read, but agrees.

But if you had bothered to read the’d discovered that snapchat now have rejected all previous promises not to store your snaps or that these are deleted from the servers.

Hereafter has snapchat all rights to users’ messages, photos and videos shared through the app, enter Tech Times who has covered the new terms point by point.

You give away all rights

The short version is that snapchat say they can do whatever they want with all content users share. The list of what you give away of rights is long, but know that snapchat can use your photos and videos, for example, marketing or advertising without you to be notified.

It is black on white that you accept the Terms gives you snapchat and its affiliates the right to publish user content outside snapchat platform without the user having to be informed about it.

It further states that snapchat may use a user’s name, image and voice published through “Live Story function” for public distribution without the user to have compensation. This right also applies to snapchat any partners.

Your video can be TV advertising

Clearer it can not be said. They own absolutely everything you share and can use it for whatever they want.

In a hypothetical case snapchat cooperate with as Coca-Cola and your private video for your boyfriend can end up on silver screen or TV in a commercial for the soda giant without you can influence it.

As if that were not enough, snapchat disclaims all responsibility for what you share on snapchat. It is the user who is legally liable. And they reserve the right to delete User Content at any time, for whatever reason, and it is not limited to violations of snapchat terms.

With In other words, your content will be deleted by snapchat even if you have not done anything wrong.

– No one will use it longer

For snapchat defense is the new conditions not unlike those terms Facebook sets for its users, but with an important exception. Facebook reserves the just rights to your User Content may be made publicly available on its own platform, ie Facebook.

Many users of snapchat who started using the service because the messages were allegedly deleted has expressed frustration and anger over the new terms, writes Tech Times citing a user that says:

“If every reader guidelines snapchat no further use of it.”
