Alerts gale and high water – Moss Avis

Wind and rain characterizes moss district Friday morning.

– There is a front passing, and it is windy in connection with it, said state meteorologist Elgbjørg Moxnes to Moss Avis at seven o’clock Friday morning.

The wind comes from the south.

– The Forward Tangen and Gullholmen there is little breeze now, and it may reach gale. The wind turns more on the southwest throughout the day, and it gets a little quieter.

But even if it calms down a bit, it can still blow air at the coast. Precipitation will however pass, and there were no reports of rainfall over Moss after noon Friday.

– It gets better throughout the weekend. We get the same wind direction tomorrow. It will blow some day and, and can come up in small gale. But it will not rain.

Apart from the wind, she believes it can get pretty nice weather beyond the weekend.

– There will be periods of sunshine, but there may be some local fog at midday. It will be slightly lower temperatures again. The temperature has risen sharply over the last few hours, and it can be ten degrees in Østfold today. Saturday there will be around 5-6 degrees at midday. The wind calms down through the Sunday and there will be more shifting breeze, she says.

On Friday and Saturday morning there will also be high water in the district.

– It can be from 70 -150 cm above what is stated in the tide table, she says.

– There will probably be felt for those who have boats lying there, and it may find that some brews can be inundated. It is rare it is so high water, says Moxnes, who reckon that it gets sent out an OBS forecast for the district.

Thus, you may want to make sure that boats and movable property is situated near the waterfront are well secured.
