Here is Mercedes’ new SUV – VG

During the 2015 Mercedes renewed its entire SUV family. Latest member unveiled in Los Angeles a couple of weeks.

The “smaller” SUV-one GLE and GLC are already on wheels in new versions and with new names. Now it is the family’s largest and most luxurious model whose turn.

7-seater we know that Mercedes GL is hereafter referred to as GLS, and Mercedes wants you to relate it to the luxurious S -class models. Call it gladly S-Class among SUV-one, they say.

While the GLC is a completely new model that took over for GLK, was GLE simply an ML with facelift – and new designation . As well came in coupe version.

The same is true when GLS now entering the arena – model shift coincides with mid-life update of GL.

efficiency

It involves new, more efficient powertrains for both diesel and gasoline. All wheel drive is a matter of course, and all models have nine-speed automatic transmission as standard (except AMG edition that features 7-step).

GLS 500 4Matic has a biturbo V8 petrol engine with 455 horsepower (+20 hp) and a torque of 700 Newton meters. Lillebror GLS 400 4Matic has biturbo V6 and will treat you with 333 hp and 480 Nm.

Those who really want to go all out going for Mercedes-AMG GLS 63 4Matic with a total of 585 hp and 760 Nm .

This is still based on AMG 5.5 liter V8, not the new four liter which is more common in newer models.

For Norway and rest of Europe diesel most applicable in this segment and GLS 350d 4Matic has 258 horses and 620 Newton meters.

Processing

For better and more varied handling informs Mercedes that they have perfected suspension and Dynamic Select control.

In design terms, GLS lifted through softer lines and luxurious details. The biggest changes are a new grille and new headlights and bumpers.

Soil is plenty of room for seven people in three rows of seats. As five-seater has trunk capacity of 680 liters, this increases to 2300 liters when all the seats laid down.

Connoisseurs of GL will nod approvingly to the design of the interior, but instruments, mulitifunksjonsratt and the touchpad-based interface unit is new.

Safety and Security

Of course, you get all electronic aids for safety and comfort, either as standard or as an option.

Competitors to GLS is large American SUVs as Cadillac Escalade, Lexus LX 570 and Lincoln Navigator. Moreover, we know that BMW is in the process of developing a full-size X7.

Audi Q7 and Volvo XC90 gets enough tightest made for this group of customers, which should have a relatively bold Wallet: Today’s model costs from roughly 1.1 to 2.3 million – before enhancement.
