Qualcomm Launches “Smart Protect” technology.

The company has developed a completely new technology, called Smart Protect, to detect malware and similar threats to offer users better protection of their data.

Qualcomm has developed application programming inferface (APIs) for use of phone manufacturers and antivirus developers, to complement their own security solutions.

According to the company Qualcomm Smart Protect designed to analyze and detect malicious apps before their signature files have been integrated into the signatures in the database for traditional antivirus applications.

Implemented in antivirus
Smart Protect is designed to analyze the behavior of the device’s applications in real time and can almost instantly detect and classify behaviors that are considered suspicious or abnormal, according to Qualcomm.

The technology comes first in Snapdragon 820, but we expect it is being implemented in other CPUs from the company.

Avast, AVG and Lookout are already working to develop software that can make use of Smart Protect when it launches in the first half of 2016.
