Scammers calling random and claims to be fixing PC: “Goodbye!”, Police said – Dagbladet.no

(Dagbladet): Police in both Hedmark and Buskerud warns Saturday against talking to people calling around and claim they work in Microsoft.

– It’s been around 40 people who have called us during the morning to tell that they are called by a hidden number. An English speaking person says he represents Microsoft and that he has discovered an error on their PC. There is a clear fraud attempts, says operations Truls Fjeld Buskerud.

He says it’s just adding on, and in any case not disclose personal or account information.

What they say is calling around?

– I do not know what they want, but they say there is a malfunction. Whether they are looking for account information or access to the machine via a password, I do not know, says Fjeld.

– There is little we get done with this, in that they are calling from hidden numbers and from abroad . It seems that those who have received calls have realized that it is nonsense. Everyone I’ve talked to, laid on.

He says it will be difficult to find the caller in.

– We do not know which country they are calling from, and it’s a big job to track them down via hidden numbers and abroad. As a local police is difficult to do something with it, he says.

Operational manager refers to the same thing to have happened in several places in the country lately.

Earlier this week the newspaper wrote Sunnhordaland about the same.
