Progressive web-apps become more deeply integrated in the Android – digi.en

Progressive apps is a new and more advanced form of webapper, acting almost like a normal (“native”) app – and can also use some of the features you’ll find in common applications, such as push-notifications.

There remains, however, a little before the progressive webapper is just as well integrated as regular apps, but it alerts Google that they are now going to improve.

In a blogginlegg type Google in the course of the next few weeks are going to roll out a new feature in the beta version of the Chrome browser for Android, which should make the difference between progressive webapper and common applications less.

Webapper will appear in the appskuffen and in the Android-settings

Developers of webapper can already today give the users a notice where they are asked if they want to add the app as a shortcut on the home screen. This works in the day as a regular Android-shortcut – meaning that the app will not show up for example in the app drawer or other places in the system.

With the new feature that is coming now, Chrome will automatically integrate the progressive webappen much closer in the operating system as soon as the user adds the app to the home screen.

For example, will the app appear in the appskuffen, as well as in innstillingsmenyene in Android. The app will also be able to receive information from other apps – as well as that a long press on the notifications from the app will send the user to the settings menu for the app notifications for the current app, instead of app notifications for Chrome. You can read more about the change at Google.
