Wednesday, 8 October 2014 – 10:06

Suddenly update to iOS 8 stagnated.

21. September 8, iOS installed on 46 percent of all iOS devices. As of October 5, the number only increased to 47 percent.

50-50
This, according to official figures from Apple. The company serves namely current statistics on this website.

There disclose these figures (as of 5 October):

* iOS 7: 47 percent
* iOS 8: 47 percent
* Elderly: 6 percent

Two problems
Is the cause of the serious problems with iOS 8.0.1 (which was designed to facilitate HealthKit but instead made it impossible to call and send messages) installed on the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus which has meant that people are afraid to upgrade?

This is certainly part of the reason, but we suspect also it is Another thing that is even more important.

Namely the fact that many of 16GB iPhones do not get upgraded over WiFi before they’ve deleted a lot of free disk space.

The reason is that when you install the update from the phone, then you have all the OS is stored on the mobile.

Otherwise Apple already works with iOS 8.1 and has managed to roll out beta 2 to developers.

It’s time to ditch the 16 GB
But installing one update from iTunes, the mobile connected to a machine do not require the same amount of free disk space on the device.

More on this in DinSide.no.

This is of course a decent enough solution, the problem is that Apple does not inform about this the iPhone has too little space.

Is not it about time that Apple kills the 16GB model, and starts at 32? Samsung has done the right thing with Galaxy Alpha in this respect.
