Good news for Google: – Computers can act as drivers – ITavisen.no

New breakthrough for the unmanned vehicles.

Google has one of the industry’s most exciting self-driving car project, and now they and other producers received very good news.

Breakthrough
National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, a US federal agency subject to Transport Ministry announced yesterday that a system based on artificial intelligence can be considered as “driver” under federal law.

This is a major breakthrough for including Google, but also for other manufacturers working to develop driverless cars.

Until now has not the unmanned vehicles had allowed to drive without a person on board. Meanwhile, manufacturers have complained that state and federal safety rules prevents testing and possible development, writes Reuters.

Greater Commitment
there is no doubt that the focus heavily on driverless cars, especially in the United States. Last month announced the Obama administration that they will add 35 billion on the table for self-driving cars.

The proposal is to allocate 35 billion to formulate rules and regulations to quickly get started with self-driving cars .
