Diesel prohibition can give prisras on used car – TV 2

There are indications that the owners of diesel cars going tough times ahead, in terms of loss of value.

In 2007, implemented government measures to stimulate Norwegian consumers to buy more diesel cars using a substantial fee reduction.

Lower CO2 emissions than equivalent gasoline vehicles was the justification for the measure at the time.

Diesel lagging behind

that it seemed, there was little doubt. The share of diesel cars literally shot into the air. Three out of four cars new cars were for a long period came with just diesel engine.

Eventually emerged cars with new technology up. First hybrids, so EVs, and in the past have rechargeable hybrids also entering.

Focus snuff also progressively toward NOx emissions and to a lesser extent against Co2. Diesel cars slowing down therefore a little behind as attractive and environmentally friendly alternatives.

It also begins to dawn spoken about executable ban on diesel cars in cities. This week this went from being the talk to be earnest. Oslo City Council is introducing a ban on diesel vehicles on municipal willow.

This will undoubtedly make diesel vehicles less attractive. Not only in Oslo but also in the surrounding areas. It goes without saying that people will not buy a car they may not be allowed to use.

More than half will not buy petrol or diesel car again

Applies especially new car

– This is very much about psychology. In practice, it hardly talk about diesel ban more than a few days each winter in Oslo. But this has been hyped up violently. Moreover, concerns that very many people. Not only those who live in Oslo, but also all those who work there or have errands passing through town. Everyone will be affected by diesel ban, says Broom editor Knut Skogstad.

He said the industry already noticed increased skepticism towards diesel cars.

– This is particularly true for new cars. Here’s diesel share plummeting. The buying brand new car is a big investment. When I well understand that many are unsure whether it is wise to buy diesel, with a view to future depreciation. The trend also comes in the used market, and it can provide significant consequences, believes Skogstad.

And so it was when Bergen introduced a congestion charge

Norway are filled with diesel vehicles

The result is heavy selling diesel cars. If you have a heavy sold last one as the bottom grounding a single effective instrument. Namely price. It must come down – probably quite a lot.

because of avgiftsomleggingene who favored diesel cars for just a few years, Norway has now a very large proportion of slightly older diesel cars on the market.

This along with high sales of new cars in recent years, means that there are very many used cars in the market in general. Which in turn pushes prices further. Many are struggling to sell their car already.
