Landowners can decide how the spelling should be. – Siste.no

The landowner can decide how the spelling should be.

The change took effect on 1 July. Thus, the farmer or landowner to use names that have previously been limited because of spelling principles in Norwegian, for example, “Dahl”, “Schjøll”, “Annexstad” and “Hveem.” Until now, these user names been recommended written straight and without “h”, “ch”, “x” and “k” and “e”.

Softening

It’s Mapping Authority makes decisions in place types such as land registration and name. Many landowners have historically called for a softening of the regulations.

– This amendment is a softening that allows the landowner to decide how the spelling should be, says management responsible for place names Anne Svanevik in Mapping Authority.

She stresses that the person concerned must demonstrate that the spelling of the name of the farm consumption or property has been in public use before that user name.

– This can be documented, for example, either by deed or use of old maps. It is not enough to submit lineages, she points out.

Unchanged address

For now the law has not allowed the landowner to establish names that do not follow spelling principles in Norwegian. The new amendment states that although the landowner determines spelling to be used in the public service, will not write manner determined by the owner to be normative for spelling other name object that the government uses.

– In practical terms, this means that even if landed property gets a new spelling, the name object such as address does not change. Although the farm example gets spelling Wiik, will address still be Viksveien says Svanevik.

It must also be emphasized that the ban does not give the landowner the right to replace an inherited user name with a different name that does not have a tradition as the name of the same the farm. Here the same rules apply as before. The amendment applies only to the spelling, not the name.

Sak again

Landowners who want to change the spelling adopted by the old rules, must travel navnesak again, and it is also recommended an assessment of place service to get a professional evaluation by name. The documentation that the spelling has been in public use before, must also be attached. (ANB)
