(Dagbladet): A condom being green if you have chlamydia – it sounds like a good idea?
It seemed the jury of Teen Tech, which resulted in four secondary school students the main prize in health technology concept with condoms that changes color depending on what kind of sex disease one has. The case is outlined by among others the Daily Mail and Page2.
At the conception
The winners named Daanyaal Ali (14), Muaz Nawaz (13) and Chirag Shah (14), Isaac Newton Academy in Illford. The condoms are still at the idea stage, but young people are hoping to get truly made them.
– We wanted to create something that makes it safer than ever to detect STDs, so people can do anything about it without the invasive procedures at the doctor, says Ali, stating that it also will help it to be easy to be responsible.
Hairpin that change color
The invention named STEYE, after the English word for sexually transmitted disease, Sexually Transmitted infection (STI). The other ideas came to the finals, the hairpin which automatically changes color depending on what you wear and an app that calculates the value in money of chores, to help young people to advocate for higher allowance.
The prize is £ 1000 (about 12 000). Teen Tech Awards was founded in 2008 by including Maggie Phiblin to promote science, engineering and technology among teenagers.
