With tougher design, modern technology and better handling on all surfaces are brand new Peugeot 3008 ready to take the compact SUV segment, writes the Norwegian importer in a message.
SUV segment has shown tremendous growth since the first generation Peugeot 3008 was launched in 2009. The size of this market has more than doubled in Europe since then, and now belongs to one in ten new cars sold in Europe SUV segment. In Norway, these cars even more important year to date, classified 30 percent of the registered cars SUVs in Information Council for Road Traffic Statistics. In 2009 the figure was below 20 percent.
Prior to the increased competition in the market launches Peugeot now its all-new 3008. It builds on the group’s modular platform EMP2, and is thus at the forefront in terms of both technology , design and safety. The new architecture that forms the basis for new 3008 ensures greater comfort and increased interior space while the car is on average 100 kg lighter than the previous generation. This, in combination with modern engine technology, ensures that fuel consumption and emissions are among the lowest in the class.
The new 3008 comes with two petrol and two diesel engines in different versions. Gasoline engines are class-leading when comparing emissions and impact and are available in a fuel-efficient 1.2-liter Puretech version that provides 130 horsepower. This can be combined with both the six-speed manual and automatic transmission. For the more power-hungry, new 3008 also comes with a 1.6-liter THP engine that provides 165 horsepower combined with six-speed automatic. The two BlueHDI engines of 1.6 and 2.0 liter comes in power versions of 100, 120, 150 and 180 horsepower. The versions of 180 and 120 horsepower can be delivered in combination with a six-speed automatic transmission.
The design of the new model follows clear SUV principles that give the car a strong image while Peugeot identity is clear. The right front combined with amenities including a high shoulder line, large wheels and higher ground clearance give the car a tougher appearance than its predecessor.
Inside, the 3008 has been equipped with latest edition of Peugeot’s in-Cockpit. In the middle of the dash is placed an 8-inch touch screen that uses the same technology as modern smartphones and tablets. In addition there are six physical buttons that provide direct access to its key features.
The trunk has been increased from 432 liters VDA in the current model to 520 liters VDA in new 3008.
New 3008 will be showcased to the public at this year’s Paris exhibition which takes place in October. When will the sale of the new model launch.
