Major investment in research and innovation produce results – Future of the North

The appreciation has resulted in more jobs in the companies, according to a new and independent analysis carried out by Statistics Norway.

The report states that the government’s research and innovation policy has contributed to more jobs and more wealth creation, says economics minister Monica Mæland.

On behalf of Industry and Fisheries Ministry SSB completed the analysis. It is referred to as the largest evaluation project the Ministry has initiated ever.

– The Government has totally enhanced focus on innovation and industrial research with 2.4 billion since 2013. This gives lasting results, the report said.

SSB also in the analysis examined the type of arrangements with the largest and most successful effect, so that the government in the future can improve the implementation of the priorities in research and innovation policy.

The analysis shows that the large sums that have been earmarked for research and innovation, has produced results in both the number of jobs, wealth creation and a better revenue for the industry.

– When we went into government in 2013, we were clear that the Norwegian economy must adapt for years to come. Therefore, we have invested heavily in precisely innovation and research. There have been good priorities, we now see in retrospect, says Mæland.
