Apple 40 years: – As religion for users – Dagbladet.no

(Dagbladet): When Adam and Eve takes a bite of the apple from the Tree of Knowledge in the Garden of Eden, everything changed for Bible first human.

A bit like that mean many Apple fans first encounter with Apple products, everything changes. And several pledge allegiance to the technology giant’s leash of products, mac, iphone, ipod and ipad.

– Once you go Mac, you never go back !, says Idol presenter Mark Bailey (23) in an extended case in Dagbladet about how Apple has been working to get people hooked on their products.

Have Macer 80s

Dagbladet graphic artist, Kjell Erik Berg, is among those who do not go back to your PC after being introduced to Apple technology. He has used Apple for the past 35 years, and collects previous editions mac computers. He has got the whole family to choose Apple machines instead of computers.

– iTunes and iPod gave Apple the big breakthrough. Before it was Apple bit in a skyggedal years. But I’ve only been using Apple since the late 80s, he said.

In the video above you can see his son, Lars Martin Berg, demonstrate several of the family’s Macs, right from an early version of Apple computer that you had to start with a floppy disk.

– as religion

There are now fewer than 40 years ago Apple adventure started, but the road to success was not just simple.

Apple was founded on April 1 1976 by Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak, and Ronald Wayne. Few years later became Apple listed, and Jobs and Wozniak who was still with the company, many millionaires.

In 1983, the company raised John Scully as the new leader, but a discrepancy between Jobs and Scully made sure Jobs by each lost his job in the company he had helped to build.

But Steve Jobs did not give up, he developed computer company NEXT Computer, and in 1996 this company was sold to Apple under the assumption of Jobs to return to work for Apple.

Then came innovations from the company like pearls on a string until Jobs died of cancer in 2011. The products with the distinctive apple logo has since been preferred tools for increasing numbers.

– One of the things that has made me most surprised through the years, is how strong feelings people put in this Apple-election. It is a bit like religion, says editorial director of PC World Norway, Toralv Østvang.

Østvang uses both Mac and PC at work to stay abreast of computer technology, and so not a religious relationship Apple, but he understands why Apple has been the creative and designbevisstes first.

– Apple has democratized computing technologies. They managed to hide the complicated technology under a user-outer, and they have succeeded well in creative environments, he said.

Wild excommunicate products

And speaking of religion, while others have had a religious relationship Apple, protesting Orthodox Christians in Russia against what they call Apple’s “blasphemous” logo. Russian ministers have previously wanted to ban the logo because it is reminiscent of apple from the Garden of Eden.

But although Appel buffs believe the meeting with Apple products knows no limits, not stem the famous logo stems from biblical history. The name and logo should be based on the legend of the apple that fell in the minds of mathematicians and astronomer Sir Isaac Newton.
