10 Things You Must Know About Windows 10 – Hardware.no

The News of Windows 10 is out of the bag, but what does that mean for you and me? Well, several things, and here are ten things about Windows 10 to Windows users must see.

# 1: What happened to Windows 9

There is a detailed, but nevertheless it is something people catch on., Microsoft has wandered quite a lot when it comes to names on Windows over the years. It started simply, but then naming west. With Windows 7 and 8 they were on the right track again, but then proceeded ie Windows 9.

According to Microsoft itself is the new OS so much more than Windows 8 plus 1, but it fits poorly with that the whole time emphasizes that it has taken the best features of Windows 7, and 8, and baked them.

This is the free-for speculation. Is like Microsoft tired of lying behind Apple OS X pure numbers wise? So Windows 10 in many ways can be written as Windows X

# 2: Is the start menu really back?

Absolutely! In Windows 10, we get to see a whole new version of the Start menu. This was removed in Windows 8, but will now return as a cross between the old Windows 7 and today’s tiled “Modern UI.”

The start menu is reminiscent of what it looked like in Windows 7, with often used programs and an opportunity for a complete list. This part occupies half of the new Start Menu, on the other half can find tile elements from “Modern UI”. These tiles can even steer around with and resize.

# 3: Virtual desktops you say?

Over the things that are truly new and nice. It has in fact put in place a new button called “Task View”. Pressing this brings up a list of all the programs running on your computer, just like you get with the combination Alt + Tab today.

Via Task View function also allows you to run multiple independent Desktop samtidig.Slik that you can have a desk for editing, and another desk where you drive clean writing. This virtual desktop has been available for Linux users for years, and is also a well-known feature in OS X.

# 4: What version is it coming?

Today’s electronics market is extremely advanced. You have a number of different devices, each running its operating systems and applications. Microsoft has long been clear that they want to smear together an operating system that can meet all needs at once.

With Windows 10 comes a new feature Microsoft calls “Continuum”. This should make it easier to switch between layouts by the operating system to automatically switch interface after it is connected to the mouse and keyboard or not.

this way it will be opened to use the same version of everything from heavy delinquent machines, via tablets and all the way to smartphone and gaming consoles.

# 5: Modern UI, what happens?

When Microsoft introduced the Modern UI to Windows 8, there were many who responded, especially those who sat on desktops. The new interface so maybe cool, but it was most suitable for tablet while lying on the couch. With Windows 8.1 a lot has happened, and it is a free to let computer boot straight into a normal desk.

Let one thing be clear, you do not get rid of the Modern UI in Windows 10, but you need not relate to it in some extensively. If you drive a traditional computer mouse and keyboard will elements sneak in via the start menu, as described above.

# 6: What about all the special programs?

It should still be apps available for purchase through the Windows Store, but the rough dividing line between the traditional interface and the Modern UI will fade. Programs written for the traditional interface will fit better into the Modern UI and these full applications to the Modern UI will be completely different possibilities when run in a traditional interface. Then you will put in place the menu option on the top bar, to simply close them and change the size.

# 7: Is this something for business users?

Windows 10 was highlighted in light just under a corporate angled arrangement, consumer characteristics Microsoft will come back to. This means that Microsoft will try to satisfy both user groups with the new operating system.

Among other things, the return of the Start menu as a welcome news for professional users, with direct access to the control panel and other settings.

It will also be easier to keep track of multiple windows on the screen, in that they can be snapped in place, side by side to suit the user. If you combine it with virtual desktops this can be a big hit.

Microsoft also highlights that Windows 10 will be more intuitive to use than Windows 8, and users will be more effective from the first day. How this is against Windows 7 says the software company nothing about.

# 8: Requires Windows 10 much of my computer?

The system requirements are not clear, but if we interpret Terry Myerson, vice president of the group’s operating system to Microsoft, it is not that sophisticated. In connection with the fact that Microsoft introduced Windows 10 for the first time, it becomes clear that even tiny “Internet of Things” devices to take the operating system.

# 9: How much will it cost?

The price is not set yet, for obvious reasons. The only thing that appears to be clear is that in any case, safety is talk of a price increase compared to today. Some even go so far as to suggest that the operating system is free. Some argue that this is the case if you have Windows 7 or 8 before, while still others think it will free anyway.

If Windows 10 is free in itself it is guaranteed that Microsoft will attempt to obtain the income from other areas. For example to get people to pay for storage in the cloud and similar services. Another variant is that the operating system itself is free, but that use is as a subscription service

# 10: When is it available?

There are currently too vanishingly little information on when Windows 10 actually reaches the market, a fully finished version. Skeptics will probably say that a Windows system is never fully developed, but by 2015 it is expected that Microsoft will be so pleased with the operating system that is made available to the general public, in a more or less finished version.

If you are eager to try out the goods themselves, there are opportunities. You can download an early version now right away.

Individuals can join the Microsoft Insider Program, and thus work out a download of the new operating system. You must register and this goes quickly and smoothly out that Microsoft would like to tell you that it is an early version of the software, and system crashes can occur.
