Easier to charge the car – Forward

Electric vehicles are large southern Norway, while in northern Norway has been naturally slowed the spread of the distances and lack of charging stations.

But not anymore.

Transnova, a division of the Norwegian Public Roads Administration has awarded over 20 million in funding for the establishment of new fast-charging stations, and Northern Norway have many charging stations.

And there is a time limit on subsidies.

Next summer

– Transnova will probably set a limit on next summer for the stations will be in place. Can Narvik municipality and Nordkraft Arena expedite the process can drive in Narvik be in place before Christmas, says Snorre Sletvold, Head and charge expert in Norwegian Electric Vehicle Association.

Narvik municipality and condominium Nordkraft Bolagsgata 20, Nordkraft Arena joined forces to seek the support of Transnova.

Earlier this summer, said Cathrine Kristoffersen, advisor to the Planning and Environment in Narvik municipality, if the answer is positive, they will try to put in place the charging station before Christmas.

Before the summer was only two charging stations throughout North Norway, Sortland and Bodø.

Quick Charge station outside Nordkraft Arena will have four parking spaces reserved for electric cars that need charging.

The speed difference is

It should not take more than 20 to 40 minutes to charge an electric vehicle fast charging.

– That rate is the difference between a standard wall outlet and Quick Charger, developing Snorre Sletvold.

Transnova is a subsidiary of the Norwegian Public Roads Administration, aiming to work for environmentally-friendly transport.

Snorre Sletvold estimates that it takes between three and six months to set up hurtigladerne, after all approvals and paperwork is done.

A lot of work, a lot of power

– Now comes the winter, it may disturb some. And then there is some equipment that must be ordered and digging as well.

A quick charger need as much power as all three houses, and is much more advanced than just an outlet on a post.

While EVs have been much longer in the south, have it here in the north have been either restricted use or for special interests, precisely because of the lack of charging stations.

On the way to northern Norway

– Now it’s about to come also to northern Norway. Besides public funding will include Tesla Motor establishing a super charger networks from Trondheim to Tromso, in four locations.

Unless he knows specifically how the stations will come, he mentions including Narvik, Fauske, Nordkjosbotn and Mo i Rana as natural places to put chargers.

Here is the list of all charging stations that will be funded in this round.
