Songa Enabler has commenced drilling of a new injection well for CO2 gas on the Snøhvit field off Hammerfest 29.juli.

Then start drilling of a production well that will provide replenishment of gas to Hammerfest LNG.

the fourth CAT D-rig came straight from the shipyard in South Korea and has started its first mission on the Norwegian shelf. It happens on Snøhvit to Statoil.

Must have new well

Snow White is still the only LNG project in the world where CO2 is separated from the well stream is captured and stored in a separate formation offshore.

so far saved more than four million tons of CO2 from the field, being watched so it does not interfere with the main reservoir as it is produced from. Now there is a need for a new CO2 injection well.

After the new CO2 injector is in place, the drilling rig directly over to drill the first new production well on snowy after the field started in 2007.

Now comes also Askeladd

the next major development step for Hammerfest LNG is the development of Askeladd field included in the plan for development and operation of Snøhvit license.

It is expected commencing in 2020/2021.

This development step will contribute to continued full capacity utilization at Hammerfest LNG.
