– I would start a gift collection, and made contact with the Red Cross in Asker to hear if they were interested in a collaboration. When I was told that all their money this year would go to make it pleasant at reception. But what about all the children outside the receipts? asks Maria Høili.
Saturday 5th December she published the post “Poor children in Norway are not taken care of because asylum children be given priority” on his blog.
In the post criticizing her Red Cross branch Asker for not having offered to the poor children outside the reception center.
– I was very angered. It is very much focused on asylum children and asylum policy right now, and then I’m afraid that the Norwegian children are forgotten. The part inside the centers are already covered, but outside there is the not covered. Then I think we must try to regular out the differences, says Høili when she guested Good Morning Norway.
Red Cross not agree
– This year said the Red Cross in Asker that they would prioritize Vardaasen is one reception they are on. But both the Church City Mission, the Salvation Army and Red Cross have activities for children in a difficult situation. We in the Red Cross reaches out to 9,000 children in Norway with Christmas workshop, santa workshop, gifts and much more, says Bente Lier, director of care at Red Cross.
She thinks it Høili write about on the blog, not votes. She points out that the Red Cross has thousands of volunteers who work for everyone to have a nice July
– The Red Cross then divides we are not the children, we think that children are children. Whether it is Maria who come from Syria and has a long flight behind them, or whether it is Per who is in a difficult situation here.
Printer to provoke
Since the post was published, it has both engaged and provoked a lot of people .
In particular, there are many who perceive that Mary Høili puts two weak groups against each other.
– I wrote in this way to engage and provoke many people as possible to take action. Sometimes it’s important to be a troublemaker to get things on the agenda. I yelling because I want change. And by brawl, I can create commitment, says Høili.
The Red Cross is concerned
– You say that you are writing to provoke, but I encourage you to rethink what effect it has to come with such a contention, says Bente Lier and caters to the blogger.
– You can help ensure that it will not be so easy for refugee children who come to Norway, and not taken anything good against. You can create false opposites, elaborates Lier.
When asked if she is going to moderate next time she writes a blog post, the answer is clear.
– I’m a troublemaker. Dot.
